Blade tape

Going to apply some polyurethane blade tape on my 20 yr old fiberglass blade.  Want to spray coat.  Okay to use krylon clear coat polyurethane? From a rattle can?  Anything better?

Hi Joe,

I've tried a few different clear/poly products on exterior applications.  What I've had the best luck with is actually marine spar varnish.  I use hi-gloss, multiple coats, applied by brush with touch-sanding between coats.  Then I regularly apply a wax finish.

Oh, for blade tape we've been using 3M 8672 (3" in our case).  It was recommend to me by Sparweb.  Seems to have held up very well.  There are probably other distributors, but we got it thru Aircraft Spruce & Specialty.

Yeah this three inch and I got it from aircraft spruce.  It is 60 in the air and my idea of regular maintenance is 20 yrs.  Going to spray coat it to seal the edges of tape and just coat it. No brushing for me I want something fast and easy

Can something like a truck bed liner spray hold up?

This is for leading edge protection? Why not the old method of brass sheet?
