Site evaluation tools
« on: March 20, 2012, 02:30:54 PM »
Hi all.

I have a stand alone power system with 3.4kW of PV. I live on the side of a hill through a valley and there is a nice clearing just up the hill from the battery location and it is fairly clear.  I think it is a perfect location for a micro wind turbine.  I like the idea of making this system hybrid, as it feels like I have more than adequate wind.

My question is, is there a cheap wireless anemometer available anywhere that I can link to my computer (preferably Mac, but PC is fine) to datalog for about 12 months?

I'm in Australia, but that shouldn't really matter. I was thinking of putting it on a 6.5m guyed tower and if all was good, I would possibly increase the tower to 13m and buy a 1kW turbine (Southwest Wind Whisper 200 or Bergey XL-1).
