« on: September 08, 2009, 06:41:27 PM »
These are my 1.2m and 2.4m wind turbines, a mixture between hugh piggots and otherpower designs

you must be sure to size all your photos properly or IE users get quite miffed with you.

Nice work, you have made a nice job.

The stator mounting brackets look a bit light for an 8ft machine. It will be fine as long as you don't use a brake switch to stop it in high winds.

Hi.

Nice job that looks just like mine same color in all. Is that a homemade dump load element in the second last picture?

Paddy.

Hi Fluk the stator mounting bracket is 6mm mild steel plate.

I try to use the brake switch when the rpm are low, sometimes this means waiting a few minutes before throwing the switch.

What kind of preformance #s are you getting from the 4ft (1.2m) unit?

I don't have any accurate data, all I can say is at about 12mph I see 1 amp, the highest seen was 11 amp, battery voltage was 30v. Initially it takes about 15 mph to get it going but once going will keep turing until wind speed drops down to about 5 mph. It runs very smooth and quite and can be left run through a storm, it really is a high speed machine.

I noticed the smooth a quiet also. I took it up to 38 amps in the truck test.

When I got back from that run I felt the stator, it was fairly warm but not anything near a risk of burn out.

However I had it "Jerry Rigged" and it does run cooler in that mode and makes a littel more power.

I think with all the Hugh Piggot 4FTers going now we might have to form a club?LOL

They are a great littel machine and can be upgraded with the second none magnet disc to a 6ft.

I wonder how much power one could expect from the 6ft version?

Anyway your machines are a thing of buity. Keep up the good work.
