For those of us who are welding challenged. Has anyone looked into using one of these street light poles as the base of a tilt up tower? Using pipe over pipe a slip over adapter could be fabricated to hold the tilt up portion.
Or since these poles are straight it should be possible to us a sleeve over the pole that can can be cranked up and down with a winch. The sleeve would have a pole extension with the mill mount adapter at the top.
It is also possible to find these in a local scrap yard also. There is one on ebay now which provided the link.
Some thing like this guy has done:

I have a tight spot in my back yard and a crank up would be nice. Max heigth I can get away with is about 20 feet at blade tip. I know not very high, well you have not see the trees surrounding me. sigh... disadvantages of living in the suburbs. I have not checked with the city building yet but that seems to be about the highest TV / ham antenna I have seen in the neighborhood.
