Printer advice wanted
« on: February 03, 2025, 12:07:39 PM »
Our old Brother ink jet printer is starting to die and we are looking for advice. We have noted that several of the new brands only take their own, proprietor ink cartridges that cost more than generic. we need color and the ability to scan documents. We don't print a lot, but it is needed. HELP!

I did look at ink jet printers and found yes the cartridges were the big cost so had a look on a local auction house, found a colour laser for $12.50. Well man it is huge and weighs in around 50 kg's but works a treat. One of the toners is down to 25% but looking at the size of the toner cartridges it will see out what I want to do with it which is just printing bottle labels.

I gave up on inkjet printers many years ago. Laser printers work much better and if the paper gets wet, the ink doesn't run. i bought one recently and it was only 160 bucks.

hi

Also with a laser printer and laminator you can do hot foiling and embosed characters.

Deff save to get a laser, yes the cartridge cost is initially high but it will give far more pages per cartridge, it will never dry up so can sit idle for years and then just print when you want it to unlike an ink jet

I prefer HP over all ells, they have never failed me thus far.
