Still getting Upgrading message, with no access?

Please let me know here on this thread

I am starting to see better board performance, and have not got that pesky "upgrading" message all morning.

The root of the problem was spiders and bots -- when we moved to a new ISP, everyone started crawling the entire board at once -- tens of thousands of posts.

This has been fixed thanks to Google APIs, and Google Analytics. Now they can only crawl a bit at a time.

Please let me know how it is working for you.

We have received lots of good advice, and many offers for help. We are currently considering what to do. However, we are also in the midst of a major winter storm! I'm snowed in, and DanB is snowed OUT.

More as we find out.

I have not seen the pesky message since Who's online went away.  Actually, as I type this there have been no issues today.

Unfortunately I am still getting that pesky upgrading page today.  Takes several tries to get through.  I'm using Firefox, I'll try to IE to see if there is a difference.

It appears to be fine here. . .

Keep up the great job!

Thought you'd like to hear something positive for once!

Google?  Who'd've thunk it!  Makes sense though.

I had the "upgrading" message a lot about 3~4 hours ago.  Noon-ish Eastern?

Seems fine now, except 'recent' which is understandably always slower, just took 94 seconds.
I clicked one of the recent topics and it loaded in 3 seconds.

('seconds' being the old reliable "One Mississippi...")

Kudos!  We all know it was a heck of a job.

Oh, and another thing . . .
I just clicked "Results" in the Poll Box
The results page displays a bar graph of the poll results and allows comments to the poll question. I clicked "Post a Comment" to add a reply, and this message is displayed.
"Story not found, no comments"

and I must say that the forum is slower than ever for me tonight. It wasn't slow for me at all until someone recommended that I delete my Cookies and login again which generates a new cookie. Ever since I did that, response times have been terrible.

Wow I think this ts the first time I have ever made 3 comments in a row to the same story.

I still see the Upgrading message most days.

No idea why. Do you need date and time seen so it can be converted back to your time?

The site is still very slow especially for logging out.

honestly, i've found the site to be pretty damn reliable, aside from the few days when no-one could get in when you first switched over.

i'm okay with the site being a little slow or hard to get to, just so long as it is here!

a hint:  i book marked this site within an old thread, the first time i was ever here.  so that is still my book mark.  if that story doesn't load, and gives me an error message, then i try straight up fieldlines.com.  if that doesn't work, i go back to my book mark, and it always works to get in.

just a thought.

keep up the good work admin!!!

As I posted yesterday, all was fine, but I couldn't log out when I was done,  so, sorry about that, I wasn't really here all day.
So, got up early, tried, and if this posts, everything I have tried works.
Of course I won't know about the logout till I try.
When I tried to logout, it was the pesky message, and it pretty much locked right up.  Dumped out, came back, same thing.  Another computer, different browser, same thing.
Just thought time/activity level might have some impact.
  Good Luck

I do see improvements in the performance of the board. I use Linux OS with firefox as a brouser. I also have a nice fat pipe on my bandwidth, so that is not an issue on my end.

The biggest problem I encounter is re-directing to recent activity, everything else loads in a reasonable amount of time.

My last test going to recent activity took 4 min 45 sec. everything else loaded in under 20 sec..

I haven't seen the "upgrade message" in a while, but it was popping up on me from time to time.

I appreciate your hard work at resolving these issues, as I am sure everyone else does.

Of course, probably the easiest way to fix the entire shebang would be just to start a new board, and to set this older board as read only. Of course, that's just my recommendation. Links to older posts for reference purposes would still work under that scenario.

Not having ever worked with scoop software, I personally can't offer any help in that area.

Keep up the good work, and I do hope you can resolve it all in between snowball fights!

I got it again this evening... at the top of the hour?

Anyway DanF, you have mail. I found a programmer who can migrate all the posts from Scoop to phpBB for about 2x-3x what has already been pledged in the "frustration" thread. Please get back to me.

Testing where the 'user photo' box is within this form -- my previous attempt to add it may have messed things up for folks.

When selecting front page , everything , newbies ect...
the system seems to be working faster.
Recent activity took a minute and a half.
Sigh , please fix the photo upload problem before Hiker and Jerry delete all their files.
Thanks
